The complete course of study covered 120 hours and the home’s structure, exterior, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, interiors, exteriors, and site grounds & grading.
Maintain commercial general liability insurance (not less than $300,000).
Apply to the Florida home inspector department to take a licensure examination.
Continuing Education – Florida Home Inspector Licensees are required to get 14 hours of continuing education every two years in Florida. Home Inspectors need the 14 hours of CE by July 31, 2026. Once you have had Continuing Education for 10 years you no longer are required to have any afterwards.
The eight areas of a Home Inspection are:
1. The structure, 2. Electrical system, 3. HVAC system, 4. Roof covering, 5. Plumbing system, 6. Interior components, 7. Exterior components, and 8. Site conditions that affect the structure.
Plus, as a home inspector, we are allowed to perform a “Hurricane Mitigation” inspection if we complete additional training.
